How Social Listening Can Change Your Brand and Business

May 19, 2020

Over the years it has become evident the need to ensure that we choose the most credible and reliable news sources since the circulation of fake news has been on the rise.  Traditional media channels have continuously battled against each other to present the most engaging and credible content to its audiences. More recently, we have seen this transcend into a social media battle where media houses aim to see who can be most prompt in breaking the news first via their social media platforms, which post gathers the most engagement, or which of these brands are known for credible information.

Social listening is an essential tool that companies and industries should take advantage of as it gives the answers to these underlying questions. Media houses are now privileged to have this quality of information at their fingertips to assist with boosting their companies by way of enhancing marketing strategies, learning about their competitors’ strengths and weaknesses as well as gaining a better understanding of their respective sectors. We have given ourselves the task of presenting insightful information to further assure you of how useful this tool can be to your company.

Over the next upcoming weeks, we will be presenting the ‘Most Engaging Media House on Weekends’. During the weekend of May 16th, 2020, we used our resources to produce exceptional findings based on our media monitoring tools. Having done our research, we gathered data that pinpoints CCN Tv6’s Facebook posting of the Prime Minister’s Media Conference on COVID-19 May 16th, 2020 at 1:55pm to have trumped all other media houses’ social media content over the course of the weekend. This content posted by Tv6 potentially reached 246.4k users and was shared over 300 times in the space of two (2) days!  The post had 500,000 in engagement, 746 likes and over 4,000 comments, which speaks great volumes as it relates to the time frame measured.

Of course, there are businesses striving without this type of information, but why not grasp at every hand that your brand or organization can benefit from. Listening in on social media is a great way to get ahead of your competitors and keeps your customers coming back for more. Here are three ways you can benefit from social listening and its analytics:

Social listening helps you understand your audience
Taking steps to understand your audience using social media data can help you in so many ways. For example, analyzing your past posts can help you find the most accurate time for sharing future content.

Social listening helps you understand your competitors
Your competitors are also creating content and running social media strategies. This will result in their exclusive data. If this data is analyzed, you will be able to figure out what is working and what isn’t.  This can help your company avoid the mistakes competitors are making and focus on techniques that bring results.

Social metrics can help you create a better strategy
Creating content for your business can be tricky when you begin your journey on social media. Honestly, you may not create the best strategy in your first attempt. You are bound to make several mistakes and use tactics that don’t work. But, if you study your social media analytics regularly you will be able to figure out what these mistakes are. Hence, when you optimize your strategy you can eliminate future mistakes and fortify it.
